New Publication on Coating Battery Separators with Glass Particles
Keylab Glastechnologie is pleased to announce the publication of a new scientific paper on the coating of battery separators with glass particles. Philipp Rank’s study examined how coating commercial polyethylene separators with platelet-shaped glass particles can enhance the performance and safety of lithium-ion batteries.
Water-based coating methods can be used to apply a brick-wall structure of flat, aligned glass flakes, which extends the service life of lithium-ion batteries and enables their use under demanding conditions. Our approach improves wettability with the battery electrolyte and thermal stability, while also addressing the need for scalable, sustainable manufacturing processes.
