Ph.D. Seminar and GABy Colloquium in Spiegelau on Resilient Raw Material and Supply Chain Strategies for the Bavarian Glass Industry
On July 2, 2026, Keylab Glastechnologie and TAZ Spiegelau, in collaboration with Bayern Bayern Innovativ’s “Netzwerk Glas 2.0,” hosted this year’s Bavarian Glass Alliance colloquium in Spiegelau for the first time.
The event focused on resilient raw material and supply chain strategies for the Bavarian glass industry. Numerous representatives from research, the glass industry, and other network partner companies came together to discuss current challenges and future strategies for securing the supply of raw materials and exploring alternative raw materials.
The colloquium featured engaging presentations from the fields of research, industry, and politics. Among other topics, alternative raw material sources, strategies for dealing with supply chain disruptions, and challenges and opportunities for future raw material supply were presented and explored in greater depth during a short workshop led by Bayern Innovativ, which utilized scenario analysis as a tool for strategic planning.
The day before, a joint doctoral seminar was held with TAZ Spiegelau, during which doctoral students from both institutes presented their planned scientific publications and the current status of their research for discussion.
For the Keylab Glass Technology, the event was a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas with network partners, discuss current developments in the glass industry, and gain new inspiration for future joint research efforts with industry.
