Development of functionally graded mineral building insulation with a reduced carbon footprint based on micro-hollow glass spheres - EcoGrad
In collaboration with its partners Maxit and the Technical University of Munich, Keylab Glass Technology is developing a new generation of sprayable “Ecosphere” insulation for thermal insulation in buildings as part of the EcoGrad project.
To improve the sustainability of the insulation, the project uses binders with lower CO2 emissions. These are intended not only to reduce the carbon footprint but also to offer good recyclability.
During application, the insulating plaster is applied in different compositions (material gradation). The composition of the insulation layer can thus be adapted to the characteristics of the facade and fulfill various functions, such as providing a bonding base, thermal insulation, or reinforcement—all using proven spray technology.
Our goal is to minimize manufacturing-related CO2 emissions, accelerate facade renovation, and reduce both material usage and material diversity.
